 Steve McCord

Steve McCord graduated from Marbury High School and was a football letterman at Troy State.

In 1979 he guided Ernest Ward of Walnut, Florida, to the Class 1A Florida State Championship. McCord became the head football coach at Holtville High School in 1982 where his two teams went 14-8 with two playoff appearances.

McCord accepted the head football coaching job at Tallassee in 1984. The 1987 football season saw him move to Marbury for a seven year run where his Bulldogs went a combined 49-30 and made the playoffs four times.

In 1994, McCord returned to Tallassee for three seasons guiding the Tigers before landing in Jemison for four years. His Panthers finished a combined 34-15 with three playoff spots. His 1999 team went 13-2, losing to Deshler 43-20 in the State Championship game.

McCord jumped to Russell County High School for the 2001 season where his teams could only manage a 3-18 record. He stepped down after two years to accept the head coaching job at Chilton County in 2003. Over the next five seasons his teams went 26-26 with a couple of playoff appearances.

McCords overall football record is 162-129 in 27 seasons as a head coach. His teams won seven area and region titles and reached the playoffs a total of fourteen times during his career.
